Dopamine

You have read all the posts, know all the rules, the do’s and the don’ts. You preach to the kids, limit their screen time, telling them just how addictive it can be but when it comes to you, the rules don’t apply. Why? We justify our digital time as work or the pursuit of financial gain. We can feel ourselves tripping out, knowing we need a break but we push on, consuming as much information or content as possible. Why, why this incessant push to know it all, why can we not be content with the knowledge that we have? Is it fear, if we are not doing or learning how to do, then we may fall short? Is it boredom or is it more complex than that? When last have you tried to sit still for 1 hour, no book, no phone, no napping, no music, no stimuli whatsoever, just pure presence. It's a skill we have lost in our day today lives, stillness. I found myself spinning out today trying to push through, learning a new and complex skill while multitasking the creation of a new brand and website. Anxiety building as I just couldn't get to the breakthrough I was anticipating, I decided to sit outside in the sun and just feel, just experience the warmth, the sensation of being. In this space I meditated and asked for the answers to come to me rather than searching for them and at this moment I experienced my breakthrough.
